Because an important part of was to understand food security and independence on a personal and a communal level, it was sensible to try and grow your own food on small scale. I was fortunate to have my own allotment in Manchester where I could experiment with natural soil fertilisation, composting, companion planting and other permaculture design practices.

After a month spend in Pittsburg, US doing theoretical research, I became interested in human build environment, and how homes with the whole water and energy systems can be turned from polluting into nature enriching/fertilising system. It opened my eyes to understanding larger scale permaculture design possibilities.

In spring 2020 pandemic put a stop to Permaculture evening with shared food and everyone’s physical presence, moved to online lectures: participants listened at the same time tending to their home gardens, growing plants, and the whole world stood still. After couple month of virtual lessons I felt it was hard to keep dialogue going with a computer as mediator and harder to pass a message of permaculture without physically of being together, cooking, sharing food, making and growing plants together. There for Permaculture evening are postponed till after lockdowns.

I am self-isolating and learning about Nitrogen and also permaculture. This is a very quick overlook about Nitrogen and pollution
