Weaving workshops

Two workshops with folks from Narva Sotsiaaltöökeskus Maslovi3 (Social-help day centre working with neurodiverse clients).

At first workshop we learned about few medical plants found on the grounds of the community garden. These plants (mostly yarrow and Mugwort) were weaved into a panel similar to weaved rug rug: on a previously constructed basic and threaded loom, plants with help of a plank are placed in between threads in layers with crisscrossed thread in between.

Objective for the workshops was to learn primitive weaving technique, identify some plants in local area mostly known as weeds and see how those can be used in meaningful way to create something of a use.

Later plant weaved panel was placed into a window of a shelter at the garden to serve as a shade panel. As it was drying, it filled shelter with nice smell.

At the second workshop when everyone was more familiar with weaving technique, we made a rug from linen and hemp fibers.
